Location/Weather
Aiode Falls isn't your average little college town, but then again you knew this when you moved in. We're here to announce exactly where you've moved to and what time zone you're in. Aiode Falls is located on the southern coast of the very nice state of Maine, in the large country of the United States, which means you're on Eastern Standard Time (currently in Daylight Savings time as well).

Here's a little bit about the state and it's climate. Maine is a state in the New England region of the northeastern United States. It is the northernmost portion of both New England and the eastern United States. The state is known for its scenery — its jagged, mostly rocky coastline, its low, rolling mountains, dramatic ocean views and its heavily forested interior — as well as for its seafood cuisine, especially lobsters and clams. To the south and east is the Atlantic Ocean, and to the north and northeast is New Brunswick, a province of Canada. The Canadian province of Quebec is to the northwest. Maine is both the northernmost state in New England and the largest, accounting for nearly half the region's entire land area. Maine also has the distinction of being the only state to border just one other state (New Hampshire to the west). The municipalities of Eastport and Lubec are, respectively, the easternmost city and town in the 48 contiguous states. Maine's Moosehead Lake is the largest lake in New England (Lake Champlain being partially in New York). Mount Katahdin is both the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail, which extends to Springer Mountain, Georgia, and the southern terminus of the new International Appalachian Trail, which, when complete, will run to Belle Isle, Newfoundland and Labrador.

The state experiences a continental climate, much more so in the southern part of the state, with Fahrenheit temperatures generally dipping into the 20s and 10s in the winter (−10 degrees Celsius) and 70s and low 80s in the summer (+25 °C). Wind chill often reduces the winter temperature to lows beyond −20 °F (−30 °C). Maine, on occasion, is affected by tropical cyclones although by the time they reach the state, they have become extratropical, and the chances of one reaching Maine at hurricane strength are very slim. Maine has fewer days of thunderstorms than any state east of the Rockies, with most of the state averaging less than 20 days of thunderstorms a year. Tornadoes are rare in Maine with the state averaging less than 2 a year, mostly occurring in the southern part of the state.


University
Where the newly remodeled University stands, there once stood a run-down asylum. It was first approached by Rosiel and Alexiel, two angels who had the intentions of making a school to train soldiers for an impending war. While beings from different times and places were drawn to the area, Rosiel fell under the influence of a demon, and those with less-than-good intentions began to arrive. Soon it turned into a constant struggle for balance within the school - and Rosiel and Alexiel abandoned their creation. It was then that Adam Monroe and Patrick Bateman took over. Under the new management the school had an elite status and was hailed as the best on the east coast. It didn't last long, as a tanker spill in the harbor resulted in a dangerous cocktail of chemicals capable of resurrecting the dead. Zombies. The town was full of them, as were the schools. The local authority and Torchwood eradicated the problem, but not without loss. Bateman resigned his position and months later, was killed during the Dalek invasion. It was during the invasion that Monroe realized the school was much more than it seemed and he needed help in running it. Setsuna Meioh took the position, restoring a sort of balance and keeping things on track.

Things haven't gone as smoothly as they would have liked since the takeover; one reason being an airborne virus that rendered those with abilities out of control. However, they're both dedicated (and aware of the constant struggle for balance) in helping the university strive for better things. Recently, they've made renovations to some of the buildings, making Aiode Falls een more of a competitive threat.

The university itself has security patrolling all hours of the night, and even offers a "don't ask, don't tell" policy; where students may call a special number and campus security will pick them up and return them to their dorms. There are parties and sponsored events almost every month, as well as weekend programs open to high school students and the public.
